Five Star Fishing Report:
6/30/2008 11:00:21 AM
WEEKLY REPORT
We fished three days on the river in an effort to get some fishing in as it was blowing 40 outside. Jeff got one fish the first day and we each had one bite for zip on the next two. The water temperature raised 4 degrees and when we fished on Thursday it was 68.5. We even tried side drifting for summer steelhead for a bust as well. The gale broke Friday night and we got in a halibut make-up day Saturday for a really good bit on a ok ocean. We got limits of 35lb. to 50lb. fish for both boats and a 80lb. for the biggest made up the catch. We tried Silver Salmon but the water was too cold and clean. Sunday was bottom fishing out of Port Orford for a slow Ling bite and fair to good on rock fish. This week it's back to Gold Beach for Silvers, Lings and rock fish.

WEEKLY REPORT
Thursday we got out of Gold Beach for Lingcod and rock fish. Jeff really got into the Vermillion and Quill Backs for a great catch to go with good Lingcod action. Friday a rough bar and fog made for a late start and the water warmed up five degrees from the day before to put the skids to the bite. We came back in with only one Lingcod and half limits of rock fish for both boats. Ouch!!! Saturday the bite came back and limits were the rule for all three trips. Sunday a big swell, minus tide and wind kept us on the dock. The river still kicked out salmon and big summer steelhead for those putting in their time. We will go back to Port Orford this week for Halibut. bottom fish and Silver Salmon as weather permits.

WEEKLY REPORT
Monday the weather broke for a full day of really good bottom fishing out of Port Orford. Both boats ended up with full limits of Lings and big Blacks in the kelp on the light gear. Jeff went to the river on Tuesday for two adults and a couple of Jacks which made for some good fishing. Since then a big blow has kept us off the ocean so we have been fishing the river for a fish or so per morning We to get some rain and cloudy weather mid to late week that will help for both the ocean and river. We are looking forward to Sunday as the ocean Silver Salmon season opens. We typically have some really good fishing right off the bat and are planning some combo trips.
