Five Star Fishing Report:

WEEKLY REPORT

The wind and swell kept us off the ocean on Monday so we took the boats to Port Orford. Tuesday worked and we had two great trips for rock fish and Lingcod. Wednesday was flat calm. We started on Silvers then Lingcod and Blacks on spin gear and got crab on the way in. Oh yah, we got two halibut, one for each boat while we were Lingcod fishing. Quite some fishing. Thursday through Saturday it was rock fish with a few Lingcod as wind and cold water slowed the bite and made for tougher fishing. More wind this week will keep us at Port Orford until Friday, anyway.

WEEKLY REPORT

The first part of the week was great. Flat ocean and good fishing. Thursday on the wind killed our halibut trips so it was bottom fish when we could go. We are headed to Port Orford with the boats today through the week for botom fish and Silvers. Back to Gold Beach when the wind stops.

WEEKLY REPORT

Man-O-Man what a week. Monday we did boat maintanence and put the boats in the water at Gold Beach. Tuesday Jeff had full limits of Lings to 44lbs., the biggest in the last two seasons, plus jumbo Blacks. Wednesday he fished salmon up the river and hooked nine and landed seven. The best day in a long time on spring fish. Other fish were caught up and down the river as well. The cool temperatures and the little rain we had really kicked off the salmon bite to say the least. Thursday through Sunday it was back to the ocean for good to excellant fishing on a picture perfect ocean, flat calm and pancake. We ran two to four trips a day. The Ling bite slowed Saturday morning on a outgoing minus tide but came back for the afternoon trips and Sunday as well. The crab spawn has really got the rock fish biting and the Cabazon are on the feed as well. One 10lb. Cab had seven Dungeness Crabs in its stomach the size of a fifty cent piece to a silver dollar. He was stuffed but still bit. Crabbing picked up and 7-10 crab per boat per trip is the deal this past week. This will probably cork us but so far this is the best June in several for fishing and weather in a long time. Hope it holds!!!
